The Alexander Isak saga isn’t finished yet.

Liverpool want the striker.

Liverpool submitted a formal offer worth around £110 million plus add-ons.

Newcastle rejected it quickly.

They’ve set their valuation at roughly £150 million and aren’t moving.

That alone would be enough drama.

But the bigger story is what’s happening behind the scenes.

Isak wasn’t part of Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Asia.

The club said he was dealing with a minor thigh injury.

But multiple sources say he skipped the trip by choice and instead trained alone in Spain.

That move didn’t go unnoticed.

Newcastle have been chasing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and have officially sent an offer worth €75 million plus €5 million in add-ons — a total package of €80 million.

If they get Sesko, the situation with Isak could shift.

He wants the move to Liverpool.

Newcastle may only consider it if they know a replacement is locked in.

If they miss out on Sesko, they’re more likely to keep Isak, regardless of pressure from the player or Liverpool’s side.

For now, Liverpool are watching.

They know the door isn’t shut completely.

Now, according to a Keith Downie post on X, Alexander Isak is back in Newcastle after training alone in San Sebastián while the team was away.

He’s expected to rejoin full training next week, but only if Liverpool don’t return with another offer before then.

Newcastle have held their position so far.

The striker remains under contract until 2028, and the club insists he’s not for sale unless a “right” offer arrives, which, to them, means closer to £150 million.

Manager Eddie Howe was asked about the situation and said, “I am very much removed from anything that’s happening back home.”

He admitted the current state of things is “far from perfect” and called it a “complex” scenario.

Despite the noise, Howe added, “We support him in every way.”

But that doesn’t change the facts.

Isak told the club he wants to leave.

He also turned down a new contract offer.

His decision to stay back from preseason only fueled talk that he’s trying to push for the Liverpool move.

Liverpool aren’t preparing a second bid, at least not yet.

But the moment Newcastle close a deal for Sesko, this could change quickly.
